Batgirl Ponies by SakuraKaijuu Batgirl Ponies by SakuraKaijuu
I think we all know that this was the inevitable result of my new found love of Ponies and my less new found love of Batgirls.

This was actually really, really fun to draw. Just the right kind of challenging. I liked drawing their individual Batgirl cutie marks a lot, but I also felt clever when i solved the utility belt problem by making them smaller saddle bags. Unfortunately the capes hide that a little. :D

Just for those unfamiliar with the Batgirls:

Barbara Gordon (currently Oracle, whose signature color is green) is lying down in the front, Cass Cain (current whereabouts unknown) directly behind Babs standing, Stephanie Brown (formerly Spoiler and Robin) rearing in the back.

I tried to do a background, but since I didnít really think about doing one when I drew it, everything was looking forced and I liked it better on a white background. Also itís almost 3 a.m. and Iíve decided I want to be finished with this. XD

This is absolutely adorable! All three ponies are perfect representations of the three Batgirls and they're all cute in their own way, keep up the great work! ^^

I've always wanted to try it, but my art style clearly doesn't work with the style ponies are in. ^^'

That's the fun thing! You can reinterpret the ponies into your style (or try anyway!) I happen to be good at imitating Lauren Faust's style, but there are tons of artists who just draw ponies the way they're good at drawing.

Or, if you want to draw in Faust's pony style, start small just by copying the Mane Six and other major characters until you get a better feel for it. : )

I don't know, that would involve computer art, which I can't do. But still, it doesn't matter, thanks for the support anyway. :)

You're welcome! I like to try to be positive and supportive to people, because I know how important it is to feel like other people think you can do it.

And I do think you can do it!

It wouldn't necessarily involve using the computer. There's a lot of really beautiful pony art out there that's done in pencil, or if it is digital, in a more painted style. Use the tools you have at hand, not the ones you wish you had : )

I like Stephanie Brown, but ponies Cass and Babs are fantastic. I agree that it's ridiculously fun to pony-fy comic costumes and characters! (I've done some where I cast some of the main mlp characters as various lantern corps members.)

If you're inclined to draw the batponies in action, you totally should.

I'm still building my pony chops up through the gambit of emotions. I'm not very good at drawing real horses, so I need to study more of these ponies' walk cycles and stuff before I go for action scenes, but I'm getting there. : D

Also, if you like them, I do also have the individual Batgirls up in my gallery for closer examination (particularly Cass if she's one of your favorites and is obscured by Babs : ) )

Why is it that ponies and superheroes seem to go so well together? I already have fav'd a pic with Rainbow Dash becoming Green Lantern and a pic of a pony version of Deadpool. Is it the heroic symbols easil transforing into cutie marks? Is it the simple fact that both are fun and it's a peanut butter and chocolate situation? Or is it just some artistic fun? WHY!?

I think it's a number of things. The cutie marks and color coding makes them super easy to adapt, but it's also the ridiculous factor. Adapting heroes into ponies is just some good clean fun, and it's so damn easy. XD

Haha, yeah. I vaguely thought about it, but if you look in my gallery I have a picture of all the Batgirls (not as ponies) including Pre-Crisis Betty Kane and No Man's Land (wrong costume) Helena Bertinelli. But I decided to just do the Post-Crisis, officially sanctioned Batgirls. ^_^

Gotcha...though the problem in saying "post-Crisis" is...how many Crisises there have been. (let alone that "The Killing Joke" came out not too long after COIE, thus Babs has been Oracle a lot longer in this universe than Batgirl)

I think in general Pre/Post-Crisis always indicates Crisis on Infinte Earths, just because there was so much DC history that was rewritten by that one event, while if you're talking about the more recent Crises, those are easy to refer to because the names are shorter. "Infinite Crisis" and "Final Crisis", not to mention "52". "The Killing Joke" on the other hand is an entirely different simply because it's a Post-Crisis event, but Barbara's history as Batgirl didn't really change because of the Crisis, unlike the drastic changes CoIE made like Wonder Woman's erasure/reboot and Supergirl's death.

Sorry this is super long and nerdy of me, but I took a comic book history class in art school and it taught me a lot of the little detail crap, lol.

Thank you! I had a lot of fun with it. Also I thought about it after because I've had people like fuckyeahbatgirls on Tumblr like it, and realized that it makes a lot of sense that fans of the Batgirls would also be fans of MLP:FiM, because they're both series that are all about girls who are smart and independent, and they're written by people who aren't writing down to girls like they don't understand the same things boys do. : )
